I am so excited about the launch of our new division, Diamond Division. It is designed for ages 50 and up but is open to absolutely everyone. The Diamond Division will take a gentle approach to fitness. While it will be based in Classical Ballet movements it will not be a ballet class.
I am in my mid 50's now and I find that I cannot do some of the same fitness classes that I used to enjoy. I hear my knees and shoulders and just know that I need to be more gentle on them than doing lunges across the room! Having spent a lifetime involved in Classical Ballet, that of course will always be my starting point. So, I have designed a group of classes based on Classical Ballet movements and cross training that I have gleaned along the way that will help us build flexibility, strength, muscle tone, balance, energy, and have a lot of fun along the way. We will be focusing on a safe environment for joints, spine, etc.
Classes will be offered mid morning four days a week. It will be run in a drop in fashion like the rest of the adult division. A Diamond Division pricing plan is in the works. I hope to have the start of classes in mid to late September; however, I will be watching the current Covid variant in our community closely before I set a firm date.
Attire will be your choice of comfortable clothing in which you can move. Some of the movements will need to be barefoot to strengthen the muscles of our feet; however, a large portion of the class can be done in shoes- a nice dance sneaker would be ideal. I can help you decide what shoe is best for you.
This is an exciting venture for me! I am looking forward to seeing everyone in classes as we discover how the simplest of moves can lengthen and tone!
In my next blog post I am going to introduce the class list! Stay Tuned!
