We are super excited about our youth division this year! The 2023/2024 schedule is bigger than ever! We are offering a full range of classes for ages 3-18. Check out the schedule at the bottom of this posting.
As you know we do not do recitals nor competitions. We focus on premier quality technique in a nurturing and caring environment. Our goal is to foster the love of dance and help each dancer reach their absolute highest potential.
We do have an end of year event per class so each dancer can showcase their skills and gained proficiency to their families. This has a recital feel to it for the dancers but lacks the expensive costuming, wasting 5 months of precious learning time spending the class rehearsing just one piece, and spending hours and hours at the theater waiting to see your child perform a two minute piece. Instead, your child will be learning and growing each week in class and will show you all of this during parent observation day. Parent Observation day is typically 45 minutes long and is comprised of the class presentation followed by a little refreshment fueled celebration.
We do have some exciting performance opportunities coming up this year. We have a Performing Company comprised of our advanced youth dancers. We typically do 4-5 performances a year within our community to enrich the community. This year we are going to invite the PB II, Technique Ballet, and Ballet I dancers to join us for some of our performances. We will be sending a sign-up form home during the first week of classes. This is absolutely optional and we understand it isn’t for everyone. The performances will be in December and the Spring. I know that we will be going to one nursing home in December and will do the River Market again this year in the Spring. There are a few other performances but they haven’t been lined up as of yet. If we work on their performance piece during their class time it will only be for 5 minutes a class. There is a chance that we will need a Saturday rehearsal at some point before the performances.
We also have a big performance coming up in May for our Performing Company and Adult Division. Auditions for that will be in early January. It is going to be a big production for our studio and we are pretty excited about it! We are going to do Les Sylphide! It is an absolutely beautiful Classical Ballet en pointe. We will be securing a stage for the performance as we have outgrown large in house productions. Stay tuned for audition date. It will be a Saturday in January.
So, we have a very busy year coming up doing the thing that we absolutely love- dancing! We hope you are excited about our upcoming year too!
